Taiwanese Companies to Introduce 10 Devices Resembling iPad at Computex


Taiwanese companies are going to introduce about 10 devices that resemble Apple’s upcoming iPad at the Computex electronics show which will be held in June.

According to Chang Li, deputy secretary general of the Taipei Computer Association, all major laptop PC companies are preparing to unveil a tablet device at Computex.

But it was not disclosed what chips as well as software the tablets will come with. Taiwanese companies that produce notebook computers are the following Asustek Computer, Acer, -Star International (MSI), Quanta Computer, Gigabyte Technology, and Compal Electronics.


Executives from Asustek said that the company is planning to release a tablet PC later this year in order to rival with the iPad, as for MSI, it introduced a tablet PC which comes with a 10-inch screen. It is based on Google’s Android mobile software. The device was showcased at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas conducted early this year. A Compal device available with a 7-inch screen and also with Android was rolled out in Taipei. One should mention that the Compal and MSI tablet PCs come with chips which are integrated into the devices.

Tablet devices were launched being touted as good options for workers but still they have not become popular in a big way.
